Charleston is home to many interesting attractions. Many have been generally profiled, but each one has a unique story to tell.  Review the list below and then give us a call if you would like to have more information. Capitol Market--a year around market with seasonal produce and flowers, WV made products, specialty shops, a restaurant and more. It is located in a renovated train station at the end of Capitol Street.

Capitol Street--tree-lined, brick streets parallel some of the best architecture in the city. This is the heart of downtown Charleston and has been revitalized to retain old-time flavor and charm. Today, a number of local business, boutiques, restaurants and retail establishments occupy the 100+ year old buildings. Banana Joe's, which recently opened on this street, is a Caribbean-type restaurant and bar. Other businesses include Taylor Books, Ellen's Homemade Ice Cream, Chesapeake Bagel Bakery, Visions Day Spa and more!

Charleston Town Center--one of the largest urban malls east of the Mississippi River. It is 1 million square feet with two levels of department stores, specialty retail stores and chains, restaurants and a third level food court.  There are more than 130 stores and restaurants. Center Court features a spectacular three-story waterfall. Showcase WV-an all West-Virginia made retail shop that includes artwork, crafts, hand made chocolates, candles, and much more, is also located in the mall.

Clay Center for Arts and Sciences- West Virginia--opened in July 2003. A state of the art center that features a planetarium, performing arts center with a performance hall for the WV Symphony Orchestra, Avampato Discovery Museum, exhibits, art gallery, Broadway show series and more. 

Malden--the boyhood home of Booker T. Washington. This small, picturesque community has been around since the early days of the salt industry. It is edged by the Kanwha River and still has many older homes. A replica of Washington's cabin and the AME Zion Baptist Church are featured attractions. Cabin Creek Quilts, which has created quilts for many celebrities, such as Barbara Streisand and Jackie Kennedy Onassis, is an award-winning cooperative begun in the 1970s.

Mountain Stage--live two-hour broadcast of some of today's dazzling musicians and rising stars. It is recorded live and can be heard internationally on more than 100 affiliates of National Public Radio.

Tri-State Racetrack and Gaming Center--live greyhound races and coin drop slot machines provide entertainment.  The new Mardi Gras section features 600 additional slots, an elevated entertainment stage, 48 projection screens and two additional restaurants.


WV Power- a Class A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. Plays a full schedule in the South Atlantic League of Minor League Baseball. The team now has a new field called Appalachian Power Park

Coonskin Park-city park with swimming, golf, tennis, soccer, amphitheater, picnic, mini-golf, bike rental and trails.
