The Charleston Convention & Visitors Bureau is proud to once again host SportsFEST on Aug. 19-21, 2011. Events will take place at Magic Island, on the Kanawha River and on the Kanawha Boulevard at Haddad Riverfront Park.
SportsFEST includes the UWP-IJSBA Governors’ Cup Watercross National Championship, EVP Pro Am Beach Championship and the Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge.
To add even more fun to the festivities the United Way of Central West Virginia will host the first Block Party Weekend, which will include amusement park rides, carnival games and food. In addition, the sixth annual United Way Sunday Scoop will be returning to Charleston.
SportsFEST is expected to attract more than 5,000 people each day and have an economic impact of $1.6 million.
“We’ve seen great success the previous two years with these events so we are very pleased to have them back for 2011,” said Patty Bradley, CVB president and chief executive officer. “We’re also excited to include this year the United Way Block Party and Sunday Scoop – making this the perfect staycation weekend.”
