ATTRACTIONS
Charleston’s historic, scenic and entertaining attractions make it a diverse spot for family gatherings, weekend getaways and business meetings.
As West Virginia's capital city, Charleston includes the state Capitol, Governor's Mansion, and a newly renovated state museum – all of which offer free admission or tours. We are also home to an arts and sciences center, baseball stadium, unique boutiques and shops, bookstores, coffee houses, restaurants and so much more.
The city is also full of year-round entertainment and festivals. Here’s just a glimpse!
May marks the beginning of the city’s Live on the Levee concert series at Haddad Riverfront Park. Free entertainment is provided every Friday night from Memorial Day weekend through the end of August.
Memorial Day weekend also marks the beginning of great festivals with the Vandalia Gathering – a free celebration of West Virginia arts, music, dance, stories, crafts and food.
In June, the city becomes a work of art during FestivALL. This 10-day event offers art, music, dance, theater and tons of family entertainment.
Other annual events include the Charlie West Blues Fest, SportFEST, WV Games, Multifest and the Charleston Rod Run and Doo Wop. Whatever your interest, Charleston will keep you entertained.
